Explanatory note:

• In principle, the UvA adheres to British English but the American translation is widely understood internationally. For maximum clarity, you can translate 'ud' as 'assistant professor (university lecturer)'.

• Guidelines FGw: for UD1 (with or without tenure) the term 'senior lecturer' can also used.

• Guidelines FMG: for UD1 (with tenure) the term 'associate professor' can used, or 'senior lecturer' if the person in question prefers it.
